Fiona James – Owner, Founder and Ambassador of Walero

“Picture yourself sat on the grid on a hot summer’s day. You’re strapped in, ready to go and visualising the start. The problem is, you’re feeling hot and bothered and this keeps distracting you before you have even started the race. Surely you shouldn’t feel this hot already… Hence the reason why I founded Walero”

Fiona James – Racing Driver and Walero Owner and Founder

Fiona James Racing

Fiona James is a British racing driver competing in the GT4 European Series, in an Aston Martin Vantage GT4 with Academy Motorsport.

In 2007, Fiona entered her first year of racing by competing in the BritSports Championship, going on to win the group category. Achieving many podium finishes, Fiona was quickly progressing up the ranks initialising a step up into racing GT cars.

At first it was in a Ginetta G50 GT4, then soon progressed into a Lamborghini Gallardo GT3 closely followed by Prototypes in the shape of a Praga R1. It was at this point racing in the Praga R1, where Fiona sparked a moment of magic to go on to take the motorsport market by surprise. Well, an uncomfortable moment of frustration suffering from the heat before the race had even started; the magic sparked when Fiona acknowledged her base layers were incapable of actively regulating her temperature, and keeping her cool. As a result, Walero was born! After noticing the limitations in the market, Fiona took the opportunity to offer a better solution; a solution that can actively regulate your body’s temperature and reduce perspiration by up to 33%.

Continuing to challenge herself, for this 2018 season Fiona has taken the big step up to compete in the European GT4 series. This series competes at some iconic tracks such as Spa, Brands Hatch and Nurburgring. Alongside Matt Nicoll-Jones, an experience pro driver and owner of Academy Motorsport, the pair are competing in an Aston Martin Vantage GT4.

Aston Martin then offered Fiona the opportunity of a lifetime when asking Fiona if she would like to race in the Le Mans 2018 support race. An opportunity any race driver would love have, and of course Fiona said yes! It didn’t take long for Fiona to find her comfort zone on the iconic track of Le Mans, being one of the longest and fastest circuits in the world. With gradual increases as qualifying went on, Fiona qualified 10th in her class!
