Following a month-long search and a plethora of amazing entries from across the globe, 17-year-old junior formula ace Alex Walker has been named as the next Walero athlete.
At Walero, we pride ourselves on the cutting-edge technology we use in our products and the advantages they provide to racers out on the track. With this in mind, we want to support racers at every level and it was because of this that we launched our first ever “Be The Next Walero Athlete” campaign at the start of December.
Displaying a deep understanding of Walero and our product range was a key component in our selection process, alongside finding a personality that reflected the Walero way of thinking. Ticking every box in his application, we are delighted to welcome Alex Walker to the Walero family for the 2021 motorsport season.
Walker made his single-seater debut in the British F4 Championship in 2019, claiming five Rookie Cup podium finishes. A year prior, Walker was selected as a finalist in the Ginetta Junior scholarship shoot-out.
Despite the challenges of 2020, Walker was able to complete a productive racing programme – battling his way to two podium finishes in the revered BRSCC Formula Ford 1600 Championship.
As a result of his selection, Walker will join an exclusive club of athletes – including 16-time BTCC race winner Tom Ingram and FIA World Endurance Championship racer Ben Barker – who will receive full support from Walero for the year ahead.
“I am really excited to join the Walero athlete program as I have been wearing their products since I started car racing in British F4,” Walker said.
“In an open-top single-seater car, the cockpit temperature is both extremely hot and cold depending on the day. I found Walero’s base layers to be the most comfortable and temperature-efficient out of all that I have tried and am thrilled to be working with them in the future!”
Walero Chief Marketing Officer, Patrick Grant, is thrilled to welcome Walker to the Walero family and looks forward to working with him throughout his 2021 campaign.
“The selection process was tough for us here at Walero HQ,” Patrick commented. “We had applicants from around the globe, representing a multitude of levels and disciplines.
“Ultimately it came down to an excellent understanding of Walero, our technology and how it can benefit a driver’s performance. We are delighted to have Alex on board.”
