Walero ambassador and MINI UK brand ambassador Harry Hunt heads to Moscow this weekend for the start of this year’s colossal Silk Way Rally.

Covering 10,735 kilometres (over 6670 miles), Harry will traverse almost a quarter of the earth’s circumference in just 16 days, starting in Moscow on the 8th July and finishing in Beijing on the 24th July.

Harry will be tackling some of the most diverse terrains in rallying, not only in surface but also in altitude, with some stages taking place 2.5k metres above sea level, adding another dimension to the challenge.

Despite being arguably synonymous to the Dakar in its extremity, there is always an element of unpredictability to every race, and Harry is no stranger to the unexpected. The Silk Way plays a pivotal role in the run-up to Dakar 2017, leaving Hunt ready to make the most of whatever comes his way.

We’d like to wish the best of luck to Harry as he starts the 2016 Silk Way Rally!

Walero founder Fiona James has announced that she will race in the 2016 Superlights Challenge with Blueberry Racing.

Driving a Praga R1, Fiona is no stranger to the championship having successfully contested selected rounds of Supercar Challenge since 2009 in GTB & Supersports classes so knows the team and series well.

The founder of Walero Base Layers has been racing in different disciplines since 2007, but this will be her biggest challenge to date. The Praga R1 is a lightweight full-carbon track car designed around a composite monocoque, inspired by endurance prototypes.

The six-round championship will commence in Zolder on the 16-17th April.

“I am delighted that I will compete with Blueberry Racing in the Superlights Challenge. It is a great opportunity. I will be racing a car that I think is brilliant, and I cannot wait to be driving something that’s ‘back to basics’ with no traction control or gadgets. I am looking forward to driving with Blueberry Racing and meeting all my new teammates. The Superlights Challenge is going from strength to strength, so it is a great championship to be competing in.”
